Mar Melchizedek, OSB is also Metropolitan of an international Orthodox Synod. As the Abbot of St. Joseph of Arimathea Skete and its associated Benedictine dependencies he chose the historic Latin motto ex voto suscepto (based on a vow) as his personal devotion to the holy Orthodox Christian faith in a sincere and Christ-like manner, emphasizing that traditional Orthodox Christianity is based on one's faith and practice, not on membership in exclusive assemblies.

Mar Melchizedek had entered 6 months of Postulancy, followed by 15 months of Novitiate before taking final Oblations in July of 2017 at Christ the King Benedictine Priory in Schuyler, Nebraska.
